What Are Zebra Shades?
Hunter Douglas zebra shades, also known as Designer Banded Shades, are part of the roller shade family in Hunter Douglas’s collection along with Designer Roller Shades, Designer Solar Shades, Sonnette® Roller Shades, Alustra® Architectural Roller Shades, and Alustra® Woven Textures® Roller Shades. And while all share a common roller design when it comes to operation, each has different builds, styles, features, and benefits.
Hunter Douglas Designer Banded Shades are crafted from layered sheer materials with solid, horizontal bands of opaque textiles. As the layered material rolls over the header, the front and back opaque bands can align to let in more light through the unencumbers sheer bands. Or the opaque bands can be adjusted to overlay the sheer bands, creating a light-blocking effect. Banded shades can be used on any window type, including bay or corner windows, picture windows or windows with large vertical panes, patio or sliding glass doors, and French doors.
As a soft window treatment, fabric is a key element to the design of zebra shades, Hunter Douglas banded shades come in over 90 fabric options that include a range of colors, textures, and modern geometric patterns for the bands. The banded fabrics are available in light filtering or light dimming opacity, and the treatment can also be crafted from the exclusive ClearView® sheers by Hunter Douglas. For further customization to suit your existing home decor, Hunter Douglas Designer Banded Shades can be made with medium or large band heights.
